About the Institute

National Institute of Technology Nagaland, a premier institute of higher learning, is one of the thirty-one institutes established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The basic aim of the Institute is to provide quality technical education, conduct original research of high standards and provide leadership in technological innovations for industrial growth and primarily for enhancing the scope of technical education in the state of Nagaland. The institute is fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. At present six undergraduate courses in Engineering namely Electronics & instrumentation engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering , Computer Science & Engineering, Civil engineering and Mechanical engineering and four master course namely Power System Engineering,VLSI Systems,Computer Science and Engineering, Communication engineering, MSc ( physics) and integrated M.Sc course B.S.M.S(Material Science) is running in the Institute. NIT Nagaland provides separate hostels for boys & girls. The hostels are provided with all the basic facilities a student will need including geyser facility(only during winter), 24*7 water and electricity supply, purified drinking water, water cooler .All the hostels are provided with high speed internet facility. Adequate bus facility has also been extended for commute of staff and employees staying outside the campus. NIT Nagaland is well equipped with state of art laboratories. Each department has its own laboratory and the laboratories are very well equipped with the instruments and the required lab materials. Students are fully free to work in the laboratory depending on their grades, even they have the facility to work in the laboratory after closing hours with special permission.

#Tuition Fee is exempted for SC / ST candidates.

The most economically backward students (whose family income is less  than Rs. 1.00 lakh per annum) shall get full remission of the tution fee.

The other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs. 1.00 lakh to Rs. 5.00 lakh per annum) shall get remission of 2/3rd of the tution fee.
 
Dining Charges shall be adjusted every month on per day basis calculation.

Location and Accessibility


By Air: Regular flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal are available to Dimapur Airport, which is located approximately 14 KM away from NIT Nagaland. 


By Train: Dimapur is very well connected to the different parts of India through a main line station of North-East Frontier Railway. The distance between the railway station and the Institute is about 18 km.

By Bus: Several buses are plying within all major cities in North East India viz., Guwahati, Shillong, Kohima etc. to Dimapur. Apart from buses, private taxis at reasonable rate are also available from all the cities referred above.
