About the institute and Academic Programs

National Institute of Technology Raipur is situated in the capital city of Chhattisgarh State of India. This institute has a glorious past history of around 6 decades and had celebrated its golden jubilee in the year 2005. The Institute was started as a College of Mining and Metallurgy and within a few years of its inception it was upgraded to Government College of Engineering & Technology, Raipur. In the year 2005, the college was accorded status of National Institute of Technology (An Institution of National Importance).

The institute runs 12 undergraduate programs with student intake of 1158 w.e.f. 2021-22 session and 11 Postgraduate courses including M.C.A. and M.Tech. in Applied Geology. The courses are duly approved. The total strength of the students is more than 4000 approximately in the campus. Regular Ph.D. programs in all Engineering disciplines are an integral part of the research commitments of this institute. An autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, institute has its own ordinance, rules and regulations for U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. programs. The campus environment is vibrant and promotes each and every one to excel in academic and co-curricular activities. A peaceful campus is a characteristic of this institute. 

City of Raipur is well known for its peaceful and cultural orientation. A cosmopolitan city, it is well connected with all metros via air link, rail link and road link. The institute is situated just 20 km away from airport and around 5 km away from railway station. Within the city, shared transport facility is available at very reasonable rates. Chhattisgarh state has many tourist spots which are historically and archaeologically important. There are some wildlife sanctuaries in the state as well. Evenings in Raipur are full of colours and joy.

National Institute of Technology Raipur has experienced faculty members and supporting staff, who are committed to provide the best to the students and the institute as a whole. Around 90% of the students are placed every year through direct campus placements. The institute provides a good infrastructure with regards to laboratory facilities, library, internet, hostel etc. A strong dedicated alumni association invariably provides strength in the development of the students and the institute.
