About the Institute

Indian Institute of Information Technology Senapati, Manipur (IIIT Manipur)

Indian Institute of Information Technology Senapati Manipur (IIIT Manipur) was established by the act of parliament, government of India as an Institutes of National Importance and is functional since 2015 at Mantripukhri, imphal 795002 (near new secretariat). The Institute is governed by a Board of Governors consisting of distinguished academicians, industry leaders and senior government officials. Additionally, IIT Guwahati was the mentor institution for IIIT Senapati Manipur. The institute is enabling Manipur to gear up for providing Information Technology related services as well as high-quality R&D in Information Technology.

IIIT Manipur offers the following programs:

- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) (4 years, Bachelor of Technology)
- Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) (4 years, Bachelor of Technology)
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with specialization in Artificial Intelligence & data science (4 years, Bachelor of Technology)
- Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with specialization in VLSI & Embedded Systems (4 years, Bachelor of Technology)

The Institute is presently operational from its own City campus located at Mantripikhri, Imphal- 795002. The campus is well equipped with smart classrooms, state-of-art laboratories for both CSE and ECE, computer center, conference hall, auditorium, playground, hostels, faculty quarters, guest house and own administrative offices. The excellent student-faculty ratio enables 360-degree technical supervision and personal development of each student.

The institute strives to be attentive to academic needs of every student and has been able to deliver 100% placement. Classes are conveniently scheduled between 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 PM. Institute-wide WiFi connectivity empowered students to explore about the life-changing tools 24*7.

Rules For Change Branch

A student may opt for change from one program (branch) of studies to another after the completion of second semester. Change of branch/ programme shall be made strictly in order of merit of the applicants.

Criteria for selection:

1. Candidates shall complete all the common credits required in the first two semesters of their studies with a CPI of 8.00 or more, in their first attempt.

2. In case of a tie, the JEE Main rank of the applicants will be considered.

3. The strength of a program (branch) should not fall below the existing strength by more than ten percent (10%) and should not go above the sanctioned strength by more than ten percent (10%).

Industry And Alumni Relations

The Industry-Institution Interaction Cell of IIIT Manipur in association with the R&D cell provides an excellent platform for both the students as well as the faculty members to be aware of industry expectations from the graduates. It serves as a podium to showcase the best practices, latest technologies in industry stand point and their implementation. The cell regularly conducts various workshops, invited lectures, industrial visits, training programs, competitions viz., hackathon etc. in collaboration with industries. The R&D cell promote various sponsored research activities. Faculty members and students conduct research in collaboration with reputed industries R&D organizations with funding from various agencies.

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

IIIT Senapati, Manipur provides gaming opportunities like table tennis, badminton, volleyball, football etc. The Institute has the Sports Section with Sports Board. Its main objective is to develop an all-round personality of the students as well as inculcate values like team work, coordination and leadership while exploring talents. The institute provides Yoga classes for the students and Staff. It works to spread awareness among individuals for better management of life.

IIIT Manipur provides equal opportunities to boys and girls to portray their skills in various fields of recreation and sports. The institute encourage students to take part in various inter IIIT/institutes sports events, so as to cater the need of performance outside the campus premises on which our students perform at par with other institutes. The students of IIIT Manipur came up victory in the past inter IIIT sports meet held at IIIT Allahabad in 2019 and IIITDM Kanchipuram in 2017, “SPIRIT” held at IIT Guwahati in 2016 and 2017.

IIIT Manipur provides platform to nourish the cultural activities of the students. The Institute has the Cultural Section with Cultural Board. The Cultural Board organizes Ek-Bharat Shreshtha-Bharat programme to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing. Location and Accessibility

IIIT senapati Manipur’s (http://iiitmanipur.ac.in/pages/contact.html) campus is within Imphal town on Imphal Kohima national highway, NH 2 and approximately 10 Km from Airport in Imphal. The campus is very secure, having New Secretariat on one side, CRPF camp on the other side and IT park opposite to the institute.

Imphal, capital of Manipur is well connected by air from various places of India. Various airlines operate daily flights to and from Imphal. Air India, Indigo and Air Asia are operating flights to Imphal either via Kolkata or Guwahati depending on origination of the flights. Taxis and Auto rickshaws are readily available from the airport to the institute.

Rail route is yet to reach Imphal, but expected to reach Tupul near Imphal by 2023. At present nearest big Rail station is at Dimapur/guwahati and there are bus services to Imphal from Dimapur/guwahati. There are also bus services from its neighbouring cities like Kohima and Silchar.

Hotels of various categories including 5-star are available near IIIT campus in Imphal.
