The students of IIIT Kottayam are exposed to real-world problems to make them ready for Internships/placements from the first semester itself.
Entrepreneurial Ecosystem:_ The curriculum of IIIT Kottayam is designed in order to impart an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus. For instance, AIC-IIITKottayam, an incubation centre of IIIT Kottayam, is a vital resource to IIIT Kottayam students; AIC-IIITKottayam is a 10000 sq. feet incubation unit supported by AIM-NITI Aayog of India to the tune of Rs. 3.77 crores. The MSME incubation centre is also sanctioned to the Institute. IIIT Kottayam, thus, helps students to continue championing in their career and attain goals with an entrepreneurial support. It provides tens of thousands of opportunities for them to interact with industrial experts, including MSMEs to MNCs. Recently one of the student start-up namely,”unifindss”,has officially recognized by MSME,GOI.

Placements / Internships: IIIT Kottayam has a sound internship and placement programme. Leading industries keep lining up for conducting interviews and placement/internship drives to our students. In fact, the students of IIIT Kottayam could easily attract industries for pursuing internships during their summer/winter vacations (4 months per year). Most often, these internships do lead to their future placement offers. In the previous years, our students have attracted stipends during internships ranging from Rs.15000 to Rs.50000/- per month from leading industries, including Bosch, TCS, NIWE, US Technologies, IBM, VOLVO, HARMAN, and so forth. Top companies like Amazon and Google offer ₹1.25 lakhs in internship stipends. The institute even facilitates internships abroad, with past opportunities at JP Morgan Chase Glasgow and Volvo Sweden. The placement cell is responsible for campus Internships at IIIT Kottayam. The placement cell establishes and maintains relationships with various industries and organizations, cultivating partnerships and collaborations to understand their hiring needs, trends, and requirements.
The placement cell establishes and maintains a strong network of alumni who can contribute to the betterment of the process. The role of a placement cell is crucial in bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the professional world. We are well-equipped with all the necessary facilities for the Internship process. Looking at placements, this year saw a record-breaking 219 total offers with the highest domestic package reaching ₹50 lakhs per annum and an average of ₹12 lakhs per annum. The international scene was impressive too, with the highest offer reaching ₹23 lakhs per annum and a third-year student even receiving a pre-placement offer (PPO) of a remarkable ₹50 lakhs per annum.
