Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur, is a vibrant campus where activities and events take place year-round, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere for students. Events such as
TantraFiesta, Abhivyakti, and Kshiitij provide students with excellent opportunities to showcase and enhance their talents and skills.
In addition to these major events, various departments at the institute regularly organize programs and competitions that students actively participate in. Among the most notable are TantraFiesta, the institute’s flagship technical festival, and Abhivyakti, the annual cultural fest that witnesses enthusiastic participation from students representing different states across the country.
These events contribute significantly to the holistic development of students by encouraging interaction, collaboration, creativity, and healthy competition. They also help students strengthen their teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills while providing a platform to demonstrate their abilities and learn from one another.
IIIT Nagpur successfully hosted the 8th edition of its flagship annual technical festival, TantraFiesta 2025, on 9th and 10th October 2025. Centered around the theme
“Dark Matter Eclipse: Explore the Unexplored,” the fest celebrated innovation, creativity, and emerging technologies. Conducted at the Institute’s permanent campus in Waranga, the event witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting more than 10,000 participants from across the nation.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr.PremLal Patel, Director, IIIT, Nagpur, as the chief guest. The event was organised under the supervision of Incharge Registrar Shri Kailas Dakhle, Associate Dean,Dr.TausifDiwan, SAC coordinator Dr. Tapan Jain. The festival featured over 30 events spanning hackathons, robotics competitions, eSports, innovation challenges, and competitive programming contests, with a total prize pool exceeding ₹8 lakhs. The diverse range of activities encouraged participants to explore advanced technological domains and showcase their problem-solving abilities.
One of the major attractions of the fest was the Women Only Hackathon, which promoted inclusivity and encouraged greater participation of women in technology. Another standout event, EnigmaXplore 3.0 CTF, challenged participants in a Jeopardy-style cybersecurity competition involving real-world security scenarios and problem-solving tasks.
Flagship hackathons such as Gen-a-Thon 3.0, Analytica, and Claude Solve-a-thon highlighted innovative AI and Machine Learning solutions, while Robo Wars tested participants’ engineering and robotics expertise. The Design-a-Thon served as a platform for creative minds to present modern and impactful design ideas.
Competitive programming events, including Code Fiesta and Algorithmia, witnessed fierce competition among talented coders, whereas Game Jam brought imaginative game development concepts to life. In addition to technical competitions, the fest also featured insightful Tech Talks by industry experts and interactive workshops, making TantraFiesta 2025 a grand success and a memorable learning experience for all attendees.
The institute’s annual sports fest, Kshitij 2026, concluded successfully with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The event featured a wide range of sports competitions, including Cricket, Kabaddi, 100-meter Sprint, Basketball, Football, Tug of War, Badminton, Carrom, and Table Tennis. The success of the event reflected the collective dedication and efforts of Director, Registrar, Associate Dean,HoDs, Sportspersons, faculty members, enthusiastic students who actively contributed to making the event memorable.
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur also organized its annual national-level cultural festival, Abhivyakti 2026, from March 20th to March 21st, 2026. Based on the theme
“The Royal Circus,” the fest aimed to provide students with a vibrant platform to showcase their creativity and talents. Students enthusiastically participated in events organized by various clubs, including D-Taraxia Club, Crescendo Club, Strokes Club, Probe Club, and Estoria Club. The Model United Nations (MUN) event received support from esteemed partners such as VLCC, Skechers, and Abhibus, contributing significantly to the success of the festival.
The institute also actively celebrated important occasions such as International Yoga Day and World Bicycle Day through dedicated programs and activities. On the occasion of the 10th International Day of Yoga, a special yoga session was organized for faculty members and students. Additionally, a cycle rally was conducted to commemorate World Bicycle Day, promoting health, fitness, and environmental awareness.
IIIT Nagpur also demonstrated remarkable performance at the Inter-IIIT Sports Meet 2025, reflecting the dedication, talent, and determination of its athletes. The institute’s achievements across multiple sporting events brought pride to the campus community and highlighted its balanced focus on academics as well as athletics. Throughout the year, student clubs such as Orator, CRISPR, and Udyam organized a variety of engaging activities that encouraged learning, creativity, leadership, and collaboration among students.
Furthermore, E-CELL (UDYAM), in collaboration with the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized E-Summit 2026 on 16th and 17th January 2026. The summit served as an interactive platform for discussions, workshops, startup expos, and networking opportunities focused on entrepreneurship and innovation. Through this initiative, the institute inspired students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities, develop innovative ideas, and contribute meaningfully to the growing culture of innovation and startups within the campus community.
