Life at IIIT Pune
1._ IIIT Pune organized a two-week
Hindi Pakhwada event during Hindi Diwas to promote the Hindi language in the workplace. From September 14th to 29th
2023, various competitions were held, including a language questionnaire, painting, extempore speaking, and essay writing, with winners receiving cash prizes. The objective was to highlight Hindi's importance as a communication language and encourage its integration into the technological aspects of work. A renowned Hindi professor, Mr. Prashant Vitthal Sathe from BMCC College Pune, was invited to deliver lectures discussing various aspects of the Hindi language and its relevance in the technological landscape.
2._ On the occasion of Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, IIIT Pune held a Multilingualism quiz on December 27th, conducted by Qriocity, the quizzing society. This quiz, open to all students and faculty, provided a wonderful opportunity to learn more about India’s linguistic diversity. IIIT Pune fosters a sense of pride in our culture and nation, making us proud to be part of this incredible country.
3._ From November 15th to November 26th, 2023, IIIT Pune hosted “Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas”. A variety of events were held during this period, including quiz competitions and drawing competitions. An awareness session was also part of the initiative, educating students and staff about the significant contributions of tribal freedom fighters. The quiz competition was particularly noteworthy, with enthusiastic participation from 94 students. As part of the awareness program, information was displayed on various notice boards to further inform students and staff about the significant contributions of tribal freedom fighters.
4._ The success of this event is attributed to the exemplary coordination of our esteemed convener, Professor Dr. Omprakash Kakade, our respected Dean Dr. Ritu Tiwari, the valuable support of our dedicated faculty, and the active involvement of our revered teachers and cooperative student union. Through initiatives such as awareness programs, tree planting, and seminars, we aim to promote environmental consciousness and contribute to the national green mission. We are also delighted to inform you that as a symbol of our commitment to sustainability, the Amrit Kalash has been presented to the Nehru Youth Centre in a formal ceremony.
5._ A significant initiative was undertaken in 2023 by our institution, aligning with the objectives of Drug Demand Reduction, De-addition & Rehabilitation Awareness among students. This awareness campaign continued for almost six months and was in adherence to the directives provided by the
Nasha Mukt Bharat programme 2023.
6._ From October 25th to October 31st, 2023, IIIT Pune celebrated
National Unity Week. The institute arranged a variety of activities for students, including poster making, slogan writing, and essay writing, aimed at fostering a profound sense of unity among the student community. Furthermore, on
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, observed on October 31st, 2023, IIIT Pune conducted a pledge-taking ceremony. The students and staff actively took part in this ceremony, renewing their promise to promote and protect the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
7._ On 15th August 2023, IIIT Pune marked the
76th Independence Day with a grand celebration. The event saw active participation from faculty, staff, and students in the flag hoisting ceremony, reflecting their patriotic spirit. A unique aspect of the celebration was the students’ pledge, “Maati ki Shapath”, where they took a handful of soil and made a vow. This was followed by a parade around the college premises. Adding to the day’s significance, the first hard copy of the annual magazine, ‘Eminence 23’, was unveiled by team Eminence.

8._ On 13th March 2024, IIIT Pune live streamed the address to the nation and the laying of the foundation stone for three semiconductor facilities by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji. A total of 480 students and staff attended this significant milestone in the history of our country.
9._ The 76th Republic Day was celebrated in the Institute on 26th January 2024.

10._ The Sports Club held a spirited
National Sports Day 2023 event from August 25-27, featuring games like Dodgeball, Tug of War, 100m race, football, and chess. The event highlighted physical fitness, teamwork, and friendly rivalry. A prize ceremony on August 29 recognized participants’ achievements, emphasizing the importance of holistic development. A special performance by the Sports Club and Abhinay, the Dramatics Club, underscored the significance of sports in promoting unity, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle, making the event a memorable experience.

11._ The Sports Club proudly hosted
Eklavya 2023, IIIT Pune's annual sports meet, from October 14th to 17th, 2023. Eklavya thrives on participants from various academic years competing against each other, ultimately leading to the crowning of an unbeatable champion. Teams from every academic year competed fervently in cricket, volleyball, football, badminton, kabaddi, table tennis, chess, and basketball. During Ekalavya, nearly 500 students enthusiastically joined in, supporting and encouraging their fellow batchmates, creating an electrifying atmosphere and leaving an indelible mark on the event. The grand finale featured an exuberant awards ceremony, where all victorious teams and individuals were honored for their outstanding accomplishments and exemplary sportsmanship, receiving well-deserved medals and recognition.

12._ The 74-student contingent from IIIT Pune prepared dedicatedly for the
6th Inter IIIT Sports Meet, engaging in rigorous practice sessions across various sports. At the competition, the athletes from IIIT Pune exhibited remarkable prowess, securing notable victories. The Tug of War team dominated, securing gold, while the football team, led by Sairaj Mirajkar, claimed silver. Individual achievements, such as Khushi Garg’s silver in Shot Put and Khush Meena’s bronze in powerlifting, showcased outstanding talent. This performance signifies a notable improvement, marking IIIT Pune’s ascent to prominence in the sporting arena. Expectations are high for continued success in future events.

13._ The team BugBusters
comprising Jay Dhoot, Pranav More, Naishyal Patel, Faiz Sayyed, Moin Bhokare, and Janhavi Singh from IIIT Pune won the Smart India Hackathon 2023, showcasing their commitment to innovation and problem-solving. Their project, BookLens, an innovative solution for book evaluation, was developed during a 36-hour hackathon. The team was guided by Dr. Priyank Jain and received support from Nilesh Lele, President of the Chamber of Advancement of Small & Medium Business. This victory symbolizes the spirit of IIIT Pune, marking a significant chapter in their journey of excellence.

14._ The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) witnessed remarkable participation from our college. Three teams showcased exceptional problem-solving skills. Team X-Ceeded, comprising Amaan Parvez, Ashu Mittal, and Arvind Khandelwal from the '25 batch, excelled in the Amritapuri Regionals’22. Team Be negative, with Atharv Patil, Varshil Kavathiya, and Vishal Tanwar, also from the '25 batch, shone in both Kanpur and Chennai Regionals’23. Lastly, Team Testcase-3, including Ghanshyam Sharma from the '25 batch and Reyaan Jagnani and Revanth from the '24 batch, made their mark in the Amritapuri Regionals’23. Their achievements in this prestigious contest, which fosters collaboration, creativity, and innovation, are a testament to their hard work and dedication.

15._ ETHIndia, Asia’s premier
Ethereum Hackathon, held from 8th-10th Dec ‘23 in Bengaluru, witnessed remarkable participation from our college. Team ChainTrace, with Chaitanya Deshmukh and Atharv Kurlapkar, developed a decentralized supply chain system, ChainTrace, integrating Push Protocol for real-time updates. Their project won the Quadratic pool prize. Another team, vangaurd.eth, comprising Ashutosh Jha, Anuj Rajput, and Mahim Gupta, secured third place from 1inch, one of the event’s sponsors, winning $1,000. The event, organized by ETHGlobal, attracted about 2000 attendees from over 30 countries and offered numerous web3 opportunities. The teams’ achievements at this prestigious event highlight their exceptional skills and dedication to blockchain technology.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Pune (IIIT, Pune) marked a significant milestone with its
first convocation ceremony on March 23rd, 2024. The event saw 339 students receiving their degrees, symbolizing the institute’s commitment to excellence in technical education and research. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF), the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). His presence added to the grandeur of the event, and his inspiring words undoubtedl

also recognized the academic achievements of the students. Dudhal Disha Jagannath, Rutuja Madhure, Saksham Sachdeva, and Aditi Dwivedi were awarded the Academic Excellence awards for achieving the highest CGPA in their graduating batches of the B.Tech. programme. Sudarshan Sardar, Sahil Garg, Harshitha Dwaracherla, and Nikhita Ramachandran were honored with the Academic Excellence awards for achieving the highest CGPA in their graduating batches of the M.Tech. programme._
17._ iConclave, the annual Techno-Cultural Fest of IIIT Pune, made a triumphant return, captivating both students and faculty with its electrifying fusion of technology, creativity, and culture. From thrilling technical challenges to mesmerizing cultural performances, iConclave 2023 proved to be an unforgettable celebration of innovation and talent. The opening ceremony, graced by Chief Guest Dr. Digambar Pradhan Sir (IPS) and Guest of Honor Prof. Ritu Tiwari (Dean), along with Prof. Bhupendra Singh (SAC Chairperson), Dr. Amruta Lipare, and Dr. Nitesh Bharadwaj (Faculty Coordinators), set the tone for the three-day extravaganza, emphasizing the importance of innovation and collaboration in today's world.

18._ Embracing the theme of Halloween, the organizing team, led by Suryansh Kumar, went above and beyond to create an atmosphere filled with mystery and excitement. Amaan Parvez led the social media and creative endeavors, while Atharv Patil and Vinit Agarwal worked tirelessly to secure sponsorships, ensuring the success of the event. Ishan Upadhaya and Janhavi Singh flawlessly managed all aspects of coordination, while Janvi Goyal and Nisha Talware brought the spooky theme to life with their imaginative decorations. Prakhar Singh Chouhan showcased exceptional talent in digital design.
19._ The technical events lineup was nothing short of thrilling. Off-Road Bandits, organized by the Rofies club and led by Mahim Singh and Dip Patel, challenged teams to navigate carrier robots through rugged terrain. Nexus, a 36-hour offline hackathon hosted by the Localhost club and led by Vinit Agarwal and Satyam Singh, put participants' coding skills and problem-solving abilities to the test. BitLegion, under the leadership of Ashu Mittal, hosted two gripping events: Infinity, a prestigious coding contest on CodeChef, and Lockout, a 1v1 offline coding tournament.
20._ The Ganesh Chaturthi celebration 2023 was the largest in the institute's history. Additionally, Shri Ram's Pran Pratishtha was celebrated, with several diyas lit on campus. To honor Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary (Shiv Jayanti), Mardani Khel and other traditional activities were organized. All of this was made possible through the efforts of Aarambh, an initiative taken by the students.
21._ _Roobaru_, a 3-day cultural extravaganza, held on 28th
Feb, 29th Feb, and 5th March, attracted over 250 students. Each day had a unique theme: Traditional Day, Black and White Day, and Bollywood Day. Activities included a jamming session, an open mic, and monoacts. The event’s success was due to the dedication of 2nd-year and M.Tech student volunteers._
