Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhopal (IIIT Bhopal), was established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) on Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) ground. It is an Institute of National Importance (INI) founded under the Indian Institute of Information Technology University Act 2017.
 
It is a joint venture of the MoE, Government of India, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) Bhopal (M.P) with contribution in the ratio 50:35:15, respectively. The institute was established with an objective to cultivate the advance knowledge in information technology, and to furnish the IT sector and other related sectors with global standard manpower. The institute is committed to prosecute excellence in higher education, research and development in Information Technology (IT), and associated curriculum.
 
IIIT Bhopal offers B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The students are admitted in degree programs only after the clearance of JEE (Main). The institute’s admission process is regulated by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), Government of India and Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

New programmes introduced from academic year 2024-25 are: B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence), Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security), Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Physical System. Master of Computer Application (MCA) Three-Year Full-Time programme. M.Tech (Regular/ Full Time) and (Professional/ Part Time) programmes in M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), M.Tech in Data Science (Department of Information Technology), M.Tech in Cyber Physical System (Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering)

Currently, IIIT Bhopal is operating temporarily from the campus of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal. However, approximately 60 Acres of land has been identified at Bhopal for setting up institute’s permanent campus. The Governing Council includes eminent people from academia, industry, and government officiating over the governance of institute.

Academic Structure

The institute is committed to getting itself recognized as a leader in Information Technology related Science and Engineering. It wishes to establish a firm foundation for education and research with a high-quality faculty base and having the vision to be the fountainhead of new ideas and innovations in Technology and Science. IIIT Bhopal aims to create an ambiance in which new ideas, research and scholarship flourish and from which the leaders and innovators and IT-entrepreneurs of tomorrow emerge. IIIT Bhopal is operating the following Seven B. Tech programmes:

Rules For Change Branch

Students are eligible for change of branch/discipline at the end of 1st Year only, provided he/she satisfies the following criteria:

  1. Students having CGPA > 8.50 (General, EWS & OBC category) and CGPA > 8.00 (SC, ST & PWD category) at the end of 2nd semester and must have cleared all subjects.
  2. Candidate should not have F and / or I grade.
  3. The strength of discipline from which transferred is being made does not fall below 90% of the existing strength.
  4. Students are advised to consult their parents for change of branch. Branch once allotted will be final & binding to the student and further will not be changed.
  5. Merit list will be prepared according to their CGPA in first year. In case of tied CGPA score their JEE (Main) All India Rank (through which they have taken the admission in first year) will be used.
  6. The allotment will be made on merit as per CGPA of the student and the options given by him/her.
  7. The reservations of EWS, SC, ST, OBC, PH etc will be kept as it is and no change of category will be permitted as per Ministry of Education (MoE) guide lines.
  8. The change of branch will be subjected to approval from Director, IIIT Bhopal.
  9. Student may also exercise option of branch where vacancies are indicated as NIL, as vacancies subsequently created in re-allotment will be operated as per student option.
  10. The allotment will be made on the SPOT purely on merit as per CGPA of the student and the option given by him/her.
  11. The seats which will remain vacant after the process of branch change will be kept vacant if the student of the relevant quota is unavailable.

Facilities

Classes:  The Classes of IIIT Bhopal will be conducted at New Teaching Block of MANIT Bhopal till any further orders from competent authorities. Academic and other facilities of MANIT Bhopal will be shared with the students of IIIT Bhopal as per availability and requirements.

Hostel:    Hostel facility for only 1st year boys students and girls students of all years will be separately provided at Hostels of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Bhopal and Hostels at NITTTR Bhopal based on availability of rooms.
