About the Institute
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat was established in Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) mode by Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2017 in association with Government of Gujarat and industry partners Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd., Gujarat Gas Ltd., and Gujarat Informatics Ltd. The Institute began its academic journey in June 2017 with SVNIT as its mentoring institute. IIIT Surat offers B.Tech. degree in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The Institute has its own mini academic facility at Kamrej in Surat district. At present, the hostel facility for boys and girls is made available through private academic organizations. Transport facility is provided by the Institute. As per the master plan the development of hostel, academic and administrative blocks will commence from Aug. 2023.

Academic Structure
The Institute offers B.Tech. degree course in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The curriculum is updated regularly, keeping conformity with industry requirements as well as NEP-2020. Rules For Change Branch

The change of branch is allowed only in the beginning of the second year subject to the conditions as detailed in academic rules.

Faculty
The faculties appointed by the Institute and visiting faculties from other Institutes & Industries will be conducting the classes.
Facilities
The hostel facility for the Institute is arranged at private academic organizations which are at 12 km from the campus. Hostel facility is available for girls and boys separately. Transport facility is arranged by the Institute against nominal fee per year. Institute has a canteen in the campus giving the food items at subsidized rates.
Financial Assistance
The scholarships available from Central Government (NSP) and respective domicile State Governments as per applicable rules. Students can avail the scholarship by submitting the prescribed application to the respective governments.
Training & Placement
The Training & Placement (T&P) activities are coordinated by an officer appointed for the purpose and nominated faculty members supervise all placement and internship activities. During 8th semester, as per curriculum, Industrial internship of 6-months duration is compulsory. The internship has boosted the student placements national and multi-national industries.

Industry And Alumni Relations
The alumni association of the Institute will be activated during the current year.
Recreational/Extra Curricular activities
The Institute has various academic clubs and sports club. National programmes are celebrated with active participation of students. Also, students are encouraged to actively participate in national level academic competitions, and inter-IIIT sports events since 2018. The annual cultural and academic fest is a regular feature for students to exhibit their talent.
Location and Accessibility
Surat is a city of diamond and textile industries and well-known for its top ranking among the clean cities in India. The academic campus of the Institute is near the National Highway No.48 connecting New Delhi and Mumbai. The new campus is at a distance of 15 km from the Surat Railway Station and Interstate Bus Terminus, and at a distance of 32 km from Surat Airport. Different parts of the city of Surat are well-connected with BRTS facility.
