About the Institute

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIIT Raichur) is an Institute of National Importance established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model. Established in 2019, the institute was initially mentored by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, which helped lay a strong academic and administrative foundation. Since its inception, IIIT Raichur has been committed to providing quality education, fostering innovation, and promoting cutting-edge research in Information Technology and allied disciplines. IIIT Raichur offers undergraduate and doctoral programmes designed to meet the evolving demands of industry and academia. With a focus on Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and emerging technologies, the institute emphasises outcome-based education, hands-on learning, interdisciplinary research, and industry collaboration. The vibrant academic environment encourages students to develop strong technical skills, entrepreneurial thinking, and a research-oriented mindset.     1. The semester fee structure is for 6 months instead of a semester of 4 months.


    2. *The mess charges are calculated assuming Rs. 200.00 per day for 5 months, and the balance will be adjusted once a semester. Mess charges will be as per actuals. If a student is not on campus during vacation, the balance amount of mess charges collected will be adjusted or refunded to the student at the beginning of the next semester.


    3. **The medical insurance covered is Rs 2.0 Lakhs. Insurance Premium is subject to revision.

Academic Structure

B.Tech Academic Structure 

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIIT Raichur), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, was established by an Act of Parliament in the year 2019 under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model and notified vide The Indian Institutes of Information Technology Laws (Amendment) Act, 2020. The Institute's permanent campus, spanning 75 acres, is situated at Wadawati Village, Gadwal Road, Raichur, Karnataka, approximately 14 kilometres from Raichur Railway Station.


IIIT Raichur offers a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme in the following three specialisations, all of which are governed by the Institute's Ordinances and Regulations:


1. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)

2. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS)

3. Mathematics and Computing (M & C)


The academic programmes have been meticulously structured to impart a rigorous and comprehensive foundation in information technology and computer science, whilst simultaneously nurturing an ethos of scholarly inquiry and research amongst students. Central to the Institute's pedagogical philosophy is the Fractal Academic System, a distinctive framework of continuous and holistic evaluation that ensures sustained academic engagement and the consistent assessment of student performance throughout the duration of the programme.


Academic Structure


    Duration: 4 years, comprising 8 semesters.


    Credit Requirements: Each specialisation has a prescribed minimum credit requirement. To qualify for the B.Tech Degree, a student must complete the credits as specified in the curriculum for the respective programme:


            1. CSE: 129 credits


             2. AI & DS: 130 credits

             3. M & C: 130 credits

    Core Subjects:


      1. CSE: Algorithms, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Databases, Programming Languages.


      2. AI & DS: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing.


      3. M & C: A blend of mathematics, computer science, and their applications, providing a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects to prepare students for diverse career paths in industry and academia.


    Electives: A wide range of electives is available in advanced and interdisciplinary areas. Electives from one specialisation may be opted for in another, subject to:


      No timetable clash, and


      Prior approval from the concerned department/faculty.


    Internships: The curriculum incorporates flexible semester‑long and summer internships as part of coursework. These enable students to apply theoretical knowledge to real‑world scenarios, develop professional skills (teamwork, communication, problem‑solving), and gain valuable industry exposure and networking opportunities, thereby enhancing employability.


B.Tech Honours Programme

IIIT Raichur offers an Honours programme (available for all three specialisations) designed to challenge high‑achieving and ambitious students without overburdening average performers.

Eligibility and Requirements:

    A student may opt for Honours after completion of the second year.

    CGPA ≥ 8.0 (with no backlog) at the end of the fourth semester.

    Completion of an additional 12 discipline credits.

    CGPA ≥ 8.0 (with no backlog) at the end of the eighth semester, and no backlogs at any point during the B.Tech course.

Rules For Change Branch

IIIT Raichur does not offer the option of branch change after admission. Students are required to continue in the programme allotted to them through the JoSAA/CSAB counselling process.

Facilities

The permanent Campus of IIIT Raichur has the following functional facilities,

Academic Complex: The permanent campus of IIIT Raichur is being developed with a decent academic infrastructure to support high-quality teaching and learning. The academic complex has been planned to accommodate the institute's growing student strength.

The proposed academic facilities include one high-end lecture hall (cum auditorium) with a seating capacity of 258 students, two high-end lecture halls with a seating capacity of 110 students each. In addition, the academic block comprises nine classrooms, each with a seating capacity of 60 students, designed to facilitate interactive and technology-assisted learning.

To support practical and lab based courses, six computer labs with a seating capacity of 52 students each have been planned. The campus will also include two classrooms with a seating capacity of 30 students each, suitable for tutorials, elective courses, and small-group teaching activities and to cater the upcoming Master programs.

The academic infrastructure further includes four discussion rooms to encourage collaborative learning, project work, student-faculty interactions, and research discussions. Additionally, four conference rooms have been provided to facilitate academic meetings, administrative discussions, seminars, workshops, and interactions with industry and research partners. The Academic building also has a Library with seating capacity of 50. Independent faculty offices are located in this complex for on-to-one interactions.

A Cafeteria with a number of food courts is also available.


Admin Block

The institute has two blocks with over 15K Sft space to hold various administrative activities, one of them also dedicated to innovation activities spread over the region,


Innovation Building for Applied AI

A dedicated building, identical to the Admin block, is meant for external industry and societal connect for solving regional problems, startups and incubation ecosystem.

Hostel Blocks

As a residential program, the campus accommodates students on a shared basis (two-seated accommodation) with the capacities as follows: 

  1. Girls Block– Capacity 128 (Part 3)

  2. Boys Block- Capacity 464 (Part 1 & 2)


Another 674-bedded hostel construction is commenced for future academic years.


In addition, the ground floor has separate accommodation for PwD students. The whole campus is wheelchair friendly with full access through ramps and lifts, including tracks for visually impaired.


A two-floor AC Dining hall with seating capacity of 2X204 students is available close to the hostel. Other amenities including shopping, gym, reading room etc are part of the Hostel. 


Open Air Theatre


A 700+ capacity amphi-theater is available for all cultural and other technology activities,


Faculty Residence


A sizable number of faculty are resident on the campus for better care and support to the student life.

 

Student Life at Institute

Student life at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIIT Raichur) is enriching and student-focused, providing opportunities for learning, creativity, leadership, and personal growth. The institute has several active technical clubs such as CodeSoc, DevX, DeepLabs, EHACS, ElectroGeeks, E-Cell, and Finspiration. These clubs organise workshops, hackathons, coding contests, technical talks, and project activities that help students improve their skills and gain practical experience beyond academics.


Students can also take part in a variety of cultural, creative, and recreational activities through clubs such as Finesse, Stage & Studio, Xposure, and GameXcellence. Various cultural events, competitions, festivals, and sports activities are conducted throughout the year. The National Sports Organisation (NSO) encourages participation in sports such as football, volleyball, badminton, chess, and carrom, helping students maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.


IIIT Raichur also promotes social responsibility and student well-being. Through the National Service Scheme (NSS), students participate in activities such as blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, educational outreach programs, and community service initiatives. The Student Council, Students' Welfare Cell, Women Cell, Aurora Mental Health and Wellness Club, and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative help create a supportive, inclusive, and friendly campus environment. Together, these opportunities ensure a balanced and enriching student experience at IIIT Raichur.


With the transition to its permanent campus, IIIT Raichur is entering an exciting phase of growth and development. Financial Assistance

IIIT Raichur does not provide any financial assistance, irrespective of the student's category. However, eligible students may apply for scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) under various scholarship schemes offered by the Government of India. Training & Placement

The B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) programme for the 2022–2026 batch has demonstrated commendable placement outcomes through both on-campus and off-campus recruitment efforts. The highest package secured was 45 LPA, with an average package of 10.5 LPA and a median package of 7 LPA. Out of 29 registered students, 22 have been placed, reflecting a placement percentage of 75.86%.


Further, students of the 2027 graduating batch have been offered off-campus internship opportunities for Summer 2026 and Semester-Long Internship (July–December 2026) by reputed organisations including Eternal Limited, Amazon, Katalyst Software Services Ltd., Qtanea Solutions Pvt. Ltd., CDAC, WSAI (IIT Madras), and Inlogic Technologies.


Since its inception, the institute has hosted a diverse range of prominent organisations for on-campus recruitment drives, reflecting sustained industry engagement and strong placement opportunities for students. The participating organisations include Amazon, C-DOT, Jio, Infosys, Nagarro, UKG, JumpCloud, MAQ Software, TCS, LokalApp, Loyalty Juggernaut, Experian, Darwix AI, Covalense Global, KIWI, SGRG, Shilpa Biocare, Thundersoft, Zycus, HPE, ExcelR, mthree, Garuda Aerospace, Avisoft, Cognizant, AlgoUniversity, and Wyreflow Technologies.

Industry And Alumni Relations

The Institute places significant emphasis on strengthening its engagement with industry, research organisations, and alumni to enhance academic quality, innovation, research outcomes, and student development. Established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the Institute benefits from the active participation of industry stakeholders in its governance and development.

A major industry partner of the Institute is Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), which holds a 15% stake in the capital building of the Institute under the PPP framework. This partnership reflects the commitment of both government and industry towards the growth of a world-class technical institution and facilitates meaningful industry-academia collaboration.

The Institute's Board of Governors comprises eminent leaders from industry and the social sector, including the Managing Director of KPCL, the CEO of Bosch Global Software Technologies, Bengaluru, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), Bengaluru, and the CEO of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Bengaluru. Their guidance strengthens the Institute's strategic direction and promotes closer interaction with industry and society.

To foster innovation and entrepreneurship, the Institute has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARTPARK (AI & Robotics Technology Park), Bengaluru, for collaboration in emerging technologies, research, and innovation. The Institute has also signed MoUs with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Mysuru, and JeevaRaksha Trust, Bengaluru, to support the holistic development of students through initiatives focused on leadership, mental well-being, social responsibility, and community engagement.

The Institute also recognises the importance of its alumni as key stakeholders in its continued growth. With the fourth graduating batch, a growing alumni network has been established across industry, academia, research organisations, and entrepreneurial ventures. Alumni contribute through mentoring, internship and placement support, professional networking, and knowledge sharing.

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

    Sports: Sports and physical fitness form an integral part of student life at IIIT Raichur. The Institute actively promotes a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy living by encouraging students to participate in a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports activities. Facilities for games such as cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and chess are being developed and strengthened to cater to the growing student community. Regular intra-institute tournaments, inter-college competitions, and recreational sporting events provide students with opportunities to showcase their talent, develop leadership qualities, and maintain physical well-being.
