About the Institute

Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya was established on March 4, 1902, by Swami Shraddhanand with the vision of reviving the ancient Indian Gurukula system of education. Situated on the banks of the holy Ganges, approximately 6 km from Haridwar and about 200 km from Delhi, the university offers a serene and spiritually enriching academic environment.

The institution was founded as an indigenous alternative to Lord Macaulay’s colonial education system, emphasizing a holistic approach that integrates Vedic literature, Indian philosophy, cultural studies, and modern scientific education along with research. Today, it is a Deemed-to-be University, fully funded by the University Grants Commission, Government of India.

The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and all its B.Tech programs are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education.

The Faculty of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2000 with the objective of imparting high-quality technical education within the value-based framework of the Gurukula system. The faculty is committed to nurturing technically competent professionals with strong ethical values, leadership qualities, and a balanced outlook towards material and spiritual development.

Currently, the faculty offers B.Tech programs in:

  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Robotics and Automation Engineering

The university has earned recognition both nationally and internationally for its emphasis on character building through moral, intellectual, and physical development. It aims to produce technocrats who can effectively contribute to society during the evolving transition toward a balanced integration of materialism and spiritualism.

Students from the Faculty of Engineering & Technology consistently secure admissions to premier institutions such as Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, Indian Institutes of Technology, and National Institutes of Technology through competitive examinations like GATE. In a remarkable achievement, one student secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in GATE 2024. Every year more than 100 students secure excellent ranks in the GATE examination as well as in other competitive examination.

The Faculty maintains strong industry linkages with reputed organizations such as IBM, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Adobe, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Mahindra Satyam, Infogain, Hero Honda, and Panasonic.

The university has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that actively supports student placements. In recent years, students across all branches—especially Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering—have achieved excellent placement records.

Beyond academics, the Faculty promotes holistic development through regular extracurricular activities, including technical festivals, sports events, and cultural programs. Students have access to state-of-the-art gymnasium facilities located both within the faculty premises and at the university stadium.

The presence of a local chapter of NPTEL and participation in Indian Science Congress Association activities further enhance students’ academic and research exposure.

The Faculty of Engineering & Technology takes pride in its diverse student community, with learners representing more than 25 states across India, fostering a rich and inclusive academic environment.
