The admissions to I.MTech (CSE) are very competitive with the best in JoSAA opting for it. These students who join the program are trained by highly qualified faculty in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. These students also acquire a sound knowledge of Mathematics, Sciences and other topics in Engineering. The University of Hyderabad boasts of a learning environment to give a well-rounded education in many disciplines through the choices available to them in Humanities, Languages and other disciplines as per NEP. The program is recognized by AICTE. Students also go for internships in many companies through the placement unit of the University. I.MTech (CSE) students have also successfully enrolled in doctoral programs abroad. There is also an exit option available and student can exit with a B.Tech(CSE) degree after successfully completing 4 years subject fulfilling the required conditions.
Historical Notes
SCIS, created in 2012, is highly focused on Computer Science, AI and Applications with its courses on I.MTech (CSE)(through JOSA after +2 level of School Education), M. Tech in AI and CS admission through GATE, MCA (admission through NIMCET common Test) and PhD (CS) (admission through UGC-NET-JRF). The school has more than 500 students on its rolls. SCIS is well known throughout India and abroad for the quality of its research with four faculty in the Stanford list of top-2% researchers world-wide. Currently faculty strength is about 27 and they perform quality research in cutting edge areas such as Deep Learning, AI, Internet of Things, Parallel and Cloud Computing, Cryptography, etc. The curriculum is flexible, with a mix of core subjects and state-of-the-art electives preparing the student for both employment and research. Historically SCIS has been involved in computer science education through its MCA, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes as a part of the School of Mathematics / Computer and Information Sciences since 1983. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences was created in 1993 and later became a fully independent school in 2012. It has one of the first and the oldest running AI programmes in the country with more than 800students graduated thus far. SCIS also started the highly successful 5-year Integrated M. Tech (CSE) programme in 2014 and since then SCIS has been a destination of choice for those clearing their Plus two education as it offers an excellent place for students to train in Computer Science education with its quality faculty, 24x7 research labs, advanced high performance computing facilities and attractive placements. The students regularly win awards at national hackathons, participate and win prizes in many inter-collegiate events and publish papers in reputed conferences and journals. Many of our alumni are in highly-ranked colleges and universities both in India and abroad, are in senior-level positions in extremely well-known companies and some are successful entrepreneurs.
