About the Institute

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) was conceptualized by Government of India on persistent demand of the food industry to have an Apex Organisation as a One Stop Solution Provider for the various problems of the sector. Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, has set up this institute with an initial investment of about Rs. 500 Crore (US $125 million). The Institute is spread over an area of 100 acre at a prime location in close proximity of North Delhi – Haryana border on NH-1. The Institute aims at becoming an international centre of excellence in the area of Food Technology and Management. National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) was set up by Ministry of Food Processing industries, Govt. of India as an autonomous organization under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and declared as Deemed to be University under De Novo Category by the Central Government under Section 3 of UGC Act in May 2012. Now, the institute has got the status of Institute of National Importance vide The National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management Act, 2021. NIFTEM has been established with a view to meet the ever-increasing human resource requirement of the expanding food sector in the country. Education at NIFTEM combines technology with management to prepare techno-preneurs and techno-managers for the food industry. With a fully residential campus, NIFTEM provides wholesome experience of quality education with modern amenities and global linkages and where mentoring and grooming is in the hands of experienced faculty.

Academic Structure

NIFTEM offers a full-time programme leading to four years B.Tech degree in Food Technology and Management (FTM). This programme includes a rare blend of technology and management courses with goal to train youth to become techno-managers for food industry. The course has been started on the demand of food industries with the vision that NIFTEM graduates can handle both the technical and the managerial challenges of food industry. Rules For Change Branch

NIFTEM offers only one graduate programme of B. Tech. degree in Food Technology and Management (FTM). NIFTEM, Kundli does not have the policy to change the branch after admission.

NIFTEM has various facilities such as International Bakery Research Centre, Skill Development Division, Consultancy Division, Contract Research Organisation, Entrepreneurship Development Division, Pilot Plant for Meat and Poultry Processing, Pilot Plant for Fruit and Vegetable Processing, Pilot Plant for Milk and Dairy Products, Pilot Plant for RTE and Traditional Foods and Pilot Plant for Bakery, various centres of excellence and other incubation centre are available for experiential learning for students. Student Life at Institute

NIFTEM is a fully residential Green Campus with more than 30,000 trees planted in the 100 Acres campus. It has 24 hours power backup facility. It has bank, dispensary and shopping centre etc. and 04 hostels (03 for boys & 01 for girls), an International Guest House. NIFTEM has sports complex with world class infrastructure facilities including 02 Play Courts of Lawn Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball each, 04 Play Courts of Badminton, 02 Cricket Practice Pitch, 01 Football Ground, 01 Kabaddi Ground and NIFTEM Central Gym. Students Activity Centre with working space for Cultural, Fine Arts, Literary, Technical and other student societies under Student Council have been developed aiming overall development of NIFTEM students. The second phase of institute is being developed with Stadium, Student Welfare centre having indoor games facilities.

Industry And Alumni Relations

NIFTEM function as a centre for integrated education, research, enterprise incubation and outreach in the area of food science, technology and business. NIFTEM has links with food industry, and it has established NIFTEM Industry Forum (NIF) consisting of representatives of Micro, Small, Medium and Large Industries in Food Processing Sector.

There is an active alumni association known as Alumni Association of NIFTEM (AAN) to connect passout students. The association organize various programmes like skill development, personality development etc. from time to time.

NIFTEM is located at HSIIDC Industrial Estate, Kundli in Sonepat District of Haryana on Delhi-Haryana Border. Delhi Bus Stand (ISBT- Kashmiri Gate) and New Delhi Railway Station are about 30 km and 40 km, respectively and Delhi International Airport is less than 70 km from NIFTEM.
