About the Institute

The Deoghar Campus of Birla Institute of Technology was established in 2007 as a joint venture of Government of Jharkhand and Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. The institute is situated in  Deoghar at a distance of 1.5-2.0 Km from Jasidih station. Deogharis  an Important pilgrimage city of Jharkhand and is known for one of the twelve Jyotirlingas - Baijnath Dham in the heart of the city where pilgrims from all over the world visit the city throughout the year to worship Lord Shiva. Besides this Ram Krishna Mission, Swami Anukul Chand Ashram, Rikhia Ashram and many other important places of worship justify its name ‘’Deoghar’’. The city can boast of first AIIMS in the State of Jharkhand and is well connected by Road, Rail and Air to all parts of the country .

 

A highly knowledgeable and experienced faculty can help students discover their hidden talents, provide doors for them to realize their full potential and help them acquire a balanced mix of technical, managerial and interpersonal skills. This fosters their development as future business personnel, entrepreneurs and a good human being. To accomplish this Institute has Highly Qualified faculties on its roll. Besides this, Experts from BIT main Campus keep visiting the Campus regularly to conduct special workshops and seminars for students and faculties.

 

The Institute can accommodate more than 1000 students in its two boy's hostels and one girl's hostel. It has an advanced library acquiring a good number of books and e-resources including e-books and e-journals, laboratories with modern equipment, and spectacular sports facilities for both students and employees.

 

The Institute offers a four-year B.Tech. course in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science and Engineering (Ai/ML), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Mechanical Engineering (MECH).

Academic Structure

Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) course structure providing opportunity to opt choice-based electives along with the course subject.

Provision of completing minor courses of other branch along with the subjects of main branch.

Rules For Change Branch

Eligibility Criteria for Branch Change:

i. Students admitted in the B. Tech  program shall only be eligible to apply for change of branch after the completion of first year.

ii. Students must have completed all the prescribed credits of the first year (1st and 2nd semesters) in the first attempt and must have an average SGPA (1st and 2nd semesters) as:

(a) 8.00 or above for General/EWS/OBC/EBC

(b) 7.00 or above for SC/ST

iii. Students should not have received any fail grade (F/F*/UFM) in any course to be eligible for branch change.

iv. Students should not have faced any disciplinary action or indulged in an act of indiscipline.

V. Students admitted under Gol/NRI/PIO/OCI/SFFS categories shall not be eligible for branch change.

Note:

a. The seats shall be filled based on category in which the student had taken admission.

b. Branch change shall be done strictly in order of merit, availability of category wise vacancies and preferences opted by the students.

c. In case of a tie between two or more students, branch change shall be done based on CRL of JEE (Main).

d. Sliding/transfer of students may be allowed till the strength does not fall below 65% of the sanctioned intake of the concerned department.

e. Once a branch has been allocated to a student, no request for further change/revert of the allocated branch shall be entertained under any circumstances.

Financial Assistance

The Institute is providing different kind of financial assistance / scholarship to the students of various UG programme, such as-

    Meritorious scholarship (based on AIR in JEE-Main for all categories) 
    G.P. Birla Scholarship (based on semester wise result - SGPA)

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

A Healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The students are encouraged to take up sports actively. A Huge Ground is maintained meticulously for playing Cricket and Football. Two Basketballs and  Badminton Courts are also present in the Institute Campus. Several other Sports such as Table Tennis, Athletics, Volleyball and others are also conducted. Students of  the Institute have taken part in various Inter-College Tournaments and matches have shown exemplary  performance. They are trained by an experienced sports officer. An Intramural Sports meet allows them to show their mettle and broaden their horizons. The Institute believes that playing Sports help the Students to build a spirit of Teamwork and Sportsmanship which will help them to lead better lives. 

There are large number of Student Societies and Clubs, which supports students to nurture their hobbies and other creative talents for relaxation and entertainment. These Societies and Clubs include: Dramatics Society, News and Publication Society (NAPS), Music Club, Fine Arts Society, Photographic Society, Students Chapter of IEEE, Institute Innovation Cell. 

Drama competitions, music competitions and annual student festivals (UTTHAAN, AAGHAZ), are conducted on a regular basis. Several traditional festivals like Saraswati Puja and Viswakarma Puja are also celebrated with great devotion on campus. 

The various Institute’s teams have regularly participated on several student festivals and competitions across all over the country. BIT Deoghar students were always appreciated and noticed by the national organizing society from their credible performance, and they bagged several awards in past on various events. 

The Institute has hosted various athletics, sports, and other technical events. The Institute’s teams also visit other Universities/ Institutes to participate in such tournaments. It is worth mentioning that our students have won various prizes too. 

Location and Accessibility

BIT Deoghar is located in Jasidih, Deoghar, about 1.5 kilometers from Jasidih Railway Station, 15 kilometers from Deoghar Airport and 6 kilometers from Deoghar City. Both Taxi and Autorickshaw are available from Jasidih Railway Station/Deoghar Bus Stand/ Deoghar Airport to BIT Deoghar.
