About the Institute

The Deoghar Campus of Birla Institute of Technology was established in 2007 as a joint venture of Government of Jharkhand and Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. The institute is situated in  Deoghar at a distance of 1.5-2.0 Km from Jasidih station. Deoghar is  an Important pilgrimage city of Jharkhand and is known for one of the twelve Jyotirlingas - Baijnath Dham in the heart of the city where pilgrims from all over the world visit the city throughout the year to worship Lord Shiva. Besides this Ram Krishna Mission, Swami Anukul Chand Ashram, Rikhia Ashram and many other important places of worship justify its name ‘’Deoghar’’. The city can boast of first AIIMS in the State of Jharkhand and is well connected by Road, Rail and Air to all parts of the country .

A highly knowledgeable and experienced faculty can help students discover their hidden talents, provide doors for them to realize their full potential and help them acquire a balanced mix of technical, managerial and interpersonal skills. This fosters their development as future business personnel, entrepreneurs and a good human being. To accomplish this Institute has Highly Qualified faculties on its roll. Besides this, Experts from BIT main Campus keep visiting the Campus regularly to conduct special workshops and seminars for students and faculties.

The Institute can accommodate more than 1000 students in its two boy's hostels and one girl's hostel. It has an advanced library acquiring a good number of books and e-resources including e-books and e-journals, laboratories with modern equipment, and spectacular sports facilities for both students and employees.

The Institute offers four- year B.Tech. course in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME).

Academic Structure

Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) course structure providing opportunity to opt choice-based electives along with the course subject.

Provision of completing minor courses of other branch along with the subjects of main branch.

Rules For Change Branch

There is a provision for branch change ( B. Tech 2nd year students (3rd semester)) subject to availability of seats and considering the following criteria:

Maximum 10% of the existing students of any discipline/branch shall be considered to change the discipline/branch purely on performance merit basis.

Students who have completed all the examinations of the first two semesters in the first attempt and have minimum CGPA as under, shall be considered for such branch sliding.

  1. General Category/EWS/OBC/EBC - 8.0 and above
  2. SC/ST category -  7.0 and above

There are 4 numbers of academic departments at BIT Deoghar with highly qualified faculty members involved in teaching and research.

Student Life at Institute

Campus life is undoubtedly the most cherished memory for a student and BIT ensures that discipline is properly coupled with adequate share of fun and excitement. Students share an open and transparent bond with faculty and other staff members. Significantly, everyone takes responsibility and puts best as a whole to make the Institute a great place to live and learn. The green residential campus is self-contained with good hostel facilities.

Financial Assistance

The Institute is providing different kind of financial assistance / scholarship to the students of various UG programme, such as-

    Meritorious scholarship (based on AIR in JEE-Main for all categories) 
    G.P. Birla Scholarship (based on semester wise result - SGPA)

Fee waiver in tuition fee for staff wards. 

Training & Placement

Since 2007, Birla Institute of Technology, Deoghar, growing by leaps and bounds. The institute has not only established itself as a forerunner in technical education but has also left deep imprints of its presence in the country and society. The pool of talent and aspirations that the students carry along makes BIT Deoghar one of the most sought-after institutes in India. 

In session 2022-2023, more than 100 companies provided job opportunities for the students of BIT Deoghar. Major recruiters includes IT Product to IT Services, Analytics & Consulting, heavy engineering and core companies etc. Several meritorious students have received multiple offers.

Considering the percentage placement of eligible students, 84% B.Tech. students have got placed with maximum package of 51.0LPA and average package of 6.53LPA as of now.

The alumni of BIT Deoghar are working all over the world in leading organizations and holding top positions such as Co-Founder, AVP, CTO, Head of Strategy, etc. BIT Deoghar also produced alumni that are working as reputed government officers in Indian Judicial Service, Indian Revenue Service, Indian Audit and Account Services, Indian Army, Central Board of Excise and Customs, ISRO, leading public sectors etc. The name of top MNCs where our alumni are working such as Amazon, Oracle, Google, CTDI, Qualcomm, Walmart, Alverez and Marshal, IBM, Youtube, Barclays, Tata Digital, Nordstrom, ZS Associates, Docquity, Sigmoid Analytics, CGI, Broadridge, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Yamaha Motors, Amdocs, Peoplestrong etc. Our alumni also completed or pursuing higher education from world’s leading universities/ institutes such as John Hopkin’s University, University of Houston, University of Minnesota, Clemson University, Delft University, Toulouse Business School,  IISc, IIMs, IITs, IIIT etc.

Alumni portal www.alumni.bitmesra.ac.in which was launched in February 2020 have got very good response. This platform offers amazing features that enables alumni to stay connected with their college and friends as well as explore professional opportunities. 

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

A Healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The students are encouraged to take up sports actively. A Huge Ground is maintained meticulously for playing Cricket and Football. Two Basketballs and  Badminton Courts are also present in the Institute Campus. Several other Sports such as Table Tennis, Athletics, Volleyball and others are also conducted. Students of  the Institute have taken part in various Inter-College Tournaments and matches have shown exemplary  performance. They are trained by an experienced sports officer. An Intramural Sports meet allows them to show their mettle and broaden their horizons. The Institute believes that playing Sports help the Students to build a spirit of Teamwork and Sportsmanship which will help them to lead better lives. 

There are large number of Student Societies and Clubs, which supports students to nurture their hobbies and other creative talents for relaxation and entertainment. These Societies and Clubs include: Dramatics Society, News and Publication Society (NAPS), Highlanders Adventure Club (HAC), Music Club, Fine Arts Society, Photographic Society, Students Chapter of IEEE. 

Drama competitions, music competitions and annual student festivals (UTTHAAN, AAGHAZ), are conducted on a regular basis. Several traditional festivals like Saraswati Puja and Viswakarma Puja are also celebrated with great devotion on campus. 

The various Institute’s teams have regularly participated on several student festivals and competitions across all over the country. BIT Deoghar students were always appreciated and noticed by the national organizing society from their credible performance, and they bagged several awards in past on various events. 

The Institute has hosted various athletics, sports, and other technical events. The Institute’s teams also visit other Universities/ Institutes to participate in such tournaments. It is worth mentioning that our students have won various prizes too. 

Location and Accessibility

BIT Deoghar is located in Jasidih, Deoghar (Jharkhand), about 1.5 kilometers from Jasidih Railway Station, 15 kilometers from Deoghar Airport and 6 kilometers from Deoghar City. Both Taxi and Autorickshaw are available from Jasidih Railway Station/Deoghar Bus Stand/ Deoghar Airport to BIT Deoghar.
