About the Institute

 The Central University of Jharkhand was established through the Central University Act, 2009. The University started with a vision to specially focus on relevant present age educational drives with an emphasis on research in cutting edge technologies. It offers Under Graduate, Post graduate and Ph.D. programmes in Schools/Departments of studies. The University is open to new ideas in course curricula and research proposals, collaboration, interaction and capacity building programmes.

Facilities

(i). Central Library:  The Central library provides access not only to text and reference books but also to a wide range of information to widen the horizons of the user’s knowledge and to support a host of their learning activities.

(ii). Hostels: Central University of Jharkhand provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls students. All CUJ Students are eligible to apply for Hostel seats. However, the seats are limited. This is their home away from home and a place where we can see the “Union in Diversity” of India. Students from different parts of the country with different cultural and religious background are living in complete harmony.

(iii). Computer Centre: Computer Centre with adequate number of desktop systems is available for independent study and learning with support from technical staff.

(v). Health Centre: The Health Centre has a male doctor and a lady doctor with supporting staff of Nurse, Pharmacist and Medical Attendant. For emergency services, there is a 24x7 ambulance facility available in the campus.

(vi). Transportation: The University provides paid transport facility for the commuting of day scholars and staff from different places in the Ranchi to the University campus and back from the campus to the city in the evening.

(vii) Mess and Canteen Facility: The University has made Mess and Canteen facility for students of the University at affordable rate. A mess Committee has been constituted to oversee the Mess affairs in which student representatives are also included

(viii) Mentoring Facility: In day-to-day teaching, teacher plays a vital role as mentor and guides the students (mentee) in their academic and related activities to groom them as a good citizen. Students are mentored by faculties in the areas of Examination; Classroom Learning; Job Placement; Higher Studies & Research; and Personal Counselling.

Student Life at Institute

The most treasured memory for a student is definitely their time spent on campus, and Central University of Jharkhand makes sure that discipline is appropriately balanced with a healthy dose of excitement and enjoyment. Students have an honest and open relationship with teachers and other staff members. Most importantly, everyone takes ownership of the Institute and works together to make it a fantastic place to live and learn. Excellent hostel facilities are available at the self-contained, green residential complex.

Training & Placement

The Central University of Jharkhand is having a dedicated Training and Placement Cell, headed by a Chief Training & Placement Officer along with Training & Placement Officers. In, order to facilitate better connects with the students pursuing different programs across various departments; dedicated faculty has been appointed as departmental representative. All these department placement representatives work in collaboration with the University Placement cell.

The Training and Placement Cell endeavour to:

· Invite Corporate / Companies for providing internship and job opportunities to the Students of CUJ;

· Act as a facilitator between different Corporates / Companies and CUJ for training and placement purposes.;

· Facilitate a smooth Campus Recruitment Drive (Pre-placement talks, conducting aptitude Tests, GD (group discussion), interviews, local travel f experts, accommodation and hospitality services for outside experts / delegates etc.);

· Organize various in-house training programs, including Guest lectures, seminars, workshops, internship and other allied activities in addition to other similar academic/ non-academic activities for ensuring employability of its students.

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

The University believes in holistic development of students and in order to make it happen co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are organized in the University on various occasions like Constitutional Day, International Yoga Day, Ozone Day, Environment Day, water day, Earth Day, etc. Some of the activities are enumerated below:

Location and Accessibility

 Ranchi is well connected with road and railways and connects it with major cities of eastern India. The National Highway (NH) 60A and NH 2 connect Ranchi with Kolkata and NH 33 and NH 99 connects it with Patna. Ranchi City has two major railway stations Ranchi Railway Station and Hatia Railway Station. The city has also one airport (domestics) Birsa Munda Airport and directly linked with Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport) and Kolkata (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport). University Transportation Services complement public conveyance for commuting between the city limits and the campus.
