About the Institute

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Deemed to be University under the Distinct category as per UGC (Institution Deemed to be University) Regulations, 2023. It is the only university under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. It has its main campus at Ropar. NIELIT Deemed to be University has 11 constituent centres at Agartala, Aizawl, Ajmer, Aurangabad, Calicut, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Gorakhpur, Patna and Srinagar. 

NIELIT Patna (Deemed to be University) is a premier institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Located in Bihar’s capital. It is dedicated to Excellence in Education, Research, and Skill Development in the rapidly evolving domains of Information, Electronics, and Communication Technology (IECT).

Financial Assistance

Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme (Available for students of Bihar State domicile)  

Scheduled Caste & Tribe students are exempted from paying Tuition fee & Examination fee in all semesters only once (i.e. repetition of exam/ semester due to any reason the fee is not exempted) under the scheme of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) of MeitY, GoI. For fee exemption necessary certificate as per GOI order to be produced from time to time. We encourage all other students to   apply for scholarship from different organizations.

Institute apart from organizing multiple Job Fairs every year, is also conducting counselling sessions to improve Soft Skills and presentation skills of the students. Leading Experts and Industrialists are invited for these counselling sessions to share their views.

Multiple visits of the students are arranged in leading Industries of the region so that they can get well versed with current Industrial trends. The students also get a chance to take up real Industrial issues as their project work. 

Students are also encouraged to participate in various internship programs.

Location and Accessibility

The institute is located approximately 35 KM from Patna City and is situated in Amhara, Bihta, near IIT Patna, at address:  NIELIT Patna, Near IIT Patna, Amhara, Bihta, Patna (Bihar) – 801106. 

The NIELIT Patna campus is accessible via Road and Rail.  Bihta is the nearest railway station and the campus is well-connected by road to Patna and surrounding areas. Public and Private transportation options are available for commuting.
