About the Institute:

One of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal, was established in 1960. As Regional Engineering College, the institute, as Regional Engineering College, has been named after the great educationist and the first education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

The Institute was established with the joint efforts of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh in September 1960, to attract bright young students from across the country. The Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, has upgraded the Institute as National Institute of Technology w.e.f. 26th June, 2002. Institute celebrated its Golden Jubilee year in the year 2010 and Diamond Jubilee Year recently in the year 2020.

The institute is situated in the heart of city of Lakes, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, on a beautiful plateau with a verdant 650-acre campus. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh is well connected by rail, road and air with all parts of the country. The climate of Bhopal is moderate with temperature ranging from 10 to 45oC.

The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. Ever since the inception, the Institute is constantly striving to achieve higher levels of technical excellence. Evolving a socially relevant and yet internationally acceptable curriculum, implementing innovative and effective teaching methodologies and focusing on the wholesome development of the students are our concerns.

Academic Programs:

The Institute currently has Fourteen teaching departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of Engineering, Sciences and Management, with nearly 100 laboratories organized in a unique pattern of functioning, The Institute offers 9 (Nine) Under Graduate programs in Engineering, 34 Post Graduate programs [this includes 30 M.Tech., 2 M.Sc., MCA and MBA programmes] in all disciplines and Ph.D programmes in all Engineering, Science, Humanities and Management departments. Institute has started a Dual Degree Programme from the current academic year 2021-22 B Tech and M Tech in Mathematics and Data Science. The Institute is well-known for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programs for Teachers as well as professionals working in Industry.

Central Facilities:

The Institute campus has a beautiful Central Institution Building, Separate buildings for Major departments, Computer Centre, Energy Centre, Workshops, Canteen, Guest Houses, Athletic & Sports Grounds, Sports Complex with Gymnasium, Students Activity Centre, Open Air Auditorium, Hospital, Staff Quarters & general amenities like Post Office, Bank, ATM and Guest House. The Institute is provided with Wi-Fi facility.

The Institute provide a positive environment for those students who prefers to create ventures. MANIT Rolta Incubation Centre is a facility started with financial assistance from one alumni Shri K K Singh. It has all the common facilities required to attract young minds to innovate, incubate and convert ideas into commercial products/services.

Hostels and Accommodation:

MANIT Bhopal is a residential institute with nearly 6000 students (UG, PG and Ph.D) students. It is a residential campus with all the basic facilities for both the students and staff to live on the campus.  It has 12 residential blocks including one mega & one ultra-mega hostel for boys, two hostels for girls and one hostel for foreign students.  The hostels in the Institute can accommodate about 5500 students.

Students Activities and Clubs:

Techno search and Maffic are the annual events conducted encouraging the students from all over India participating showcasing their hidden talents in technical and as well as cultural skills. To encourage co-curricular activities, there are more than 15 student clubs with each club having its faculty advisor.

Fee Structure:
Tuition fee for students taking admission to B. Tech, B.Arch and B. Plan courses is  Rs 1,25,000/- per student per annum from the academic year 2016 - 2017. (vide MHRD order F .No.33 - 4/ 2014 - TS.III, dated 24th June, 2016) detailed fee structure is available on institute website-www.manit.ac.in

The tuition fee is subject to the following for protecting the interests of the socially and economically backward students:- 

(a) The SC/ ST/ PwD students shall get complete fee waiver. 

(b) The most economically backward students (whose family income is less than Rs 1.0 lakh per annum) shall get full remission of the fee. 

(c) The other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs 1.0 lakh to 5.00 lakh per annum) shall get remission of 2/3rd of the fee. (Rs. 41668.00 per year and Rs. 20834.00 per semester)

(d) Tuition Fee - Family income more than Rs. 5 laks Rs. 125000.00 per year and Rs. 62500.00 per semester.

(e) The revised fee would be applicable for students taking admission starting from academic year 2020-21 onward.
       (i)   Institute other fees for first semester B.Arch.& B. Plan is Rs. 12227.00 and B.Tech. is Rs 12027.00 
       (ii)  Hostel fee (triple occupancy)  for first semester Rs. 20500.00
       (iii) Food/Mess fee extra.

Note: 
i) Any change in the Tuition Fee from time to time shall be binding to all students
ii) There shall be an annual increase of 10% in other fees

iv) Institute Caution money of Rs 5000 only and Rs 5000 only for hostel will be charged extra.

Central Computing Facility:

Institute's Central Computing Facility (CCF) is now equipped with smart racks having a high-performance computing facility (HPC) and Virtualization clusters. CCF-HPC has the ability to process data and perform complex calculations at high speeds for scientific research and the Virtualization cluster will help us to create and hosts new servers with the desired web services for the betterment of the institute facilities.

HPC facility has a total of 400 CPU Cores comprised of 8 compute nodes and 2 GPU nodes that provide the performance of 25.6 TFLOPS and 29.8 TFLOPS Rpeak respectively. The upper memory limit of 1920 GB RAM along with a 120 TB SAS-based storage system. The nodes are connected with InfiniBand interconnect to support more tightly coupled parallel applications.

Virtualization Cluster is divided into category i.e. Gold (4 Nodes) and a Silver (9 Nodes) clusters having Dual Intel Xeon gold 5220 (18 core, Total core 36) with 2.20 GHz frequency and Dual Intel Xeon Silver 4214 (12 core Total 24 cores)) 2.20 GHz frequency respectively.

Central Library :

The Institute Central Library has a collection of more than 1.5 Lakhs books and back volume journals of Technical, Scientific and general subjects and these are computerized on modern line, More than 92 current National & International journals including e-journals are subscribed. Good numbers of back volume journals (in hard copies and online) are also available. The Library remains open from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM on all working days. A separate Book Bank has been setup for SC & ST and General category student consisting of about 22000 and 7000 books respectively, through which textbooks are provided on long-term loan basis to the economically weaker and needy students. A new Library block is also in the stage of completion.

Space Technology Incubation Centre :

"Space Technology Incubation Centre (S-TIC)” is established, recently, by ISRO at MANIT Bhopal. The purpose of this Centre is to “attract and nurture the young academia with innovative ideas / research aptitude who can carry out research in the domain of Space Science and Technology and realize the research towards indigenous development of the space-worthy products. With the product development, researcher can transform themselves as future entrepreneurs and contribute positively towards the Indian Space Programme”. Furthermore, the Incubation Centre (S-TIC) at MANIT will act as a facilitator for the promotion of space science and technology related research activities in the central region comprising of the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

Physical Education / Sports / Gym facilities:

Sports have been an important social and cultural activity through ages. It is not only necessary for all round development of a person but also provides a means of recreation and relaxation for body and mind. Various competitions provide opportunities for social interaction between culturally and ethnically different groups of peoples thereby fostering qualities of sportsmanship in them.

The need for a sports arena was felt a few years back and the institute took an initiative to come up with a plan for an indoor sports complex to cater to the needs of the students. Some of the proposed structures are Swimming Pool, Squash Courts, Table Tennis, Badminton Courts, Gymnasium, Basketball Court etc.
