About the Institute:
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat was established in Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) mode by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Government of Gujarat, Gujarat Narmada Fertilizer Company Ltd., Gujarat Gas Ltd., and Gujarat Informatics Ltd, are the partners in the establishment and academic progression of the Institute. The Institute began its academic journey in June 2017 with Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat as its Mentoring Institute. The Institute offers B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Institute has its own Senate and Governing Body looking after Academic and Administrative aspects, respectively. The development of infrastructure at the site of the permanent campus is currently in progress and is likely to be completed by July 2023.

Academic Structure:
The Institute offers B.Tech. degree course in Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The curriculum is updated regularly, keeping in touch with industry requirements. Rules For Change Branch:
During the first year student study Humanities courses and common core courses. The change of branch is allowed only in the second year. The change of branch will be based on number of vacancies available and CGPA (at the end of the 2nd semester) of the candidates who intend to change the branch.
Faculty:
At present faculty appointed by the Institute and visiting faculty from SVNIT are conducting the classes. The total strength of faculty is 25.
Facilities:
The hostel facility is being provided by the mentoring Institute SVNIT. The student welfare section takes care of wellbeing of students staying in the gents and ladies hostels.  In addition, guest house facility is provided and parents while visiting their ward can stay in the guest house on daily payment basis. SVNIT has excellent sports facility in its vast campus. Library, Gymkhana, Indoor sports facilities are provided by SVNIT.
Financial Assistance:
The scholarships available from Central Government (NSP) and respective domicile State Governments are applicable and students are availing the scholarships. 
Training & Placement:
The Training & Placement (T&P) activities are coordinated by the SVNIT Training and Placement section which works under the guidance of a Professor In-charge. The final year B.Tech. students are encouraged to pursue industry internships for a period of 6 months during their eight semester (Jan - June). This provides them the necessary exposure to the industrial environment and makes them ready for a good career in engineering. The first batch of graduating students have secured a placement percentage of 71%.
Industry And Alumni Relations:
The alumni association of the Institute will come into existence in 2021. The first convocation will be in 2021.
Recreational/Extra Curricular activities:
The Institute is actively participating in all the cultural activities of SVNIT. The Institute has its own academic clubs and sports club. Students have been participating in Inter-IIIT tournaments since 2018.
Location and Accessibility:
Surat is a city of diamond and textile industries, and is also well-known for its consistent top rank among clean cities in the Swachh Survekshan, the annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India. Surat has an international airport and is also well connected by road and railway. The Institute is currently located in the campus of SVNIT with a separate administration block. The Institute will have its own modern campus in around 2 years in the land allotted by the Gujarat Government near the National Highway connecting New Delhi and Mumbai. SVNIT campus is at a distance of about 10 km from the Surat Railway Station and Interstate Bus Terminus, and at a distance 9 km from Surat Airport. Different parts of the city of Surat are well-connected with BRTS facility.
