About the Institute:

The Institute:

National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology(NIFFT) Ranchi under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt of India is one of the premier Institutes committed to the task of nation building since its inception in 1966. In consonance with the general guidelines of UNESCO, NIFFT was established in 1966 under UNDP-UNESCO programme to cater to the need of technicians and engineers with specialized skill for primary metal and machinery manufacturing sectors. It is registered as a society under the societies registration Act of 1860.  The management of the Institute is vested with board of governors with chairman as its apex and members drawn from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource and Development(MHRD), Private and Public Enterprises, Technical and R & D Institutions.

During the last two decades the Institute expanded its academic scope according to the demand of higher skills in industries. Presently, the Institute offers two programmes in Advanced Diploma, two programmes in B. Tech (B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering and B. Tech in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering) and four programmes in M Tech. All the B. Tech and M. Tech courses offered by the Institute are approved by AICTE. The institute also offers doctoral programme. Presently B Tech and M Tech programmes are affiliated to Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi.

The ambience of training, education and research evolved in the Institute over the years has significantly improved the employability of the students at all levels. Currently a large segment of alumni community of NIFFT is holding positions of leadership in different industries. Some of them are engaged in various research organisations and academic institutions of the country and abroad.

SPORTS

“NIFFTians don’t play” – If you believe something on these lines, visit the grounds of NIFFT and be amazed. Contrary to the common notion that NIFFTians are students who have devoted all their time to academics, NIFFT provide the best training facilities for sports activities, but also induces the spirit of sportsmanship in the students.
Many students are exposed to a sport for the first time, but it is not long before they become experts in that game. Such is the variety and vibrancy of extracurricular life in NIFFT, that you are destined to find worthwhile and meaningful activities to pursue for every year you spend in this campus. Sports here becomes one of the most cherished part of your NIFFT-life.
Though a cliché, but still very true is the fact that a healthy body hosts a healthy mind. Healthy, in the fullest sense. efficient, quick and un corrupt. Thus, not only does NIFFT provide the best training facilities for sports activities, but also induces the spirit of sportsmanship in the students.
NIFFT provides the students with many opportunities to demonstrate their talent on a platform much wider than their immediate peer circle in the form of events like the PARNAV PRIYADARSHI MEMORIAL INTRA CRICKET TOURNAMENT, NIFFT FOOTBALL LEAGUE, NIFFT VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE, and other intra college sports meets. Active participation in sports therefore makes your body physically fit and the time spent in it lively and enjoyable. It is no less important and educating than other extracurricular and academic activities.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. WINNER OF CHETAN DEVRAJ MEMORIAL INTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT -2013 held at BIT MESRA.
  2. WINNER OF CHETAN DEVRAJ MEMORIAL INTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT-2014 held at BIT MESRA.
