The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai is a unique Institute which was established on 1st October 1933 as a University Department of the Bombay University (UDCT), completing 88 years of glorious past. ICT has created its own brand over the years which has been recognized by several prestigious awards and accolades to the faculty, students and alumni individually and also as an institute. Under the World Bank’s Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP), ICT was granted full autonomous status in 2004 and declared as Deemed-to-be University on September 12, 2008 by the MHRD under Section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956. It was bestowed an Elite Status and Centre of Excellence on par with IITs, IISc and IISERs in the State Assembly on April 20, 2012 by the Maharashtra Govt. based on its stellar performance on par with the institutes of national importance. The genesis of ICT Mumbai is truly educative and its achievements are inspirational.

On March 2018, ICT for the first times crossed the confines of Maharashtra when the institute inaugurated the “ICT Mumbai Indian Oil Odisha Campus” at Bhubaneswar on 18th March 2018, at the hands of President of India, Honorable Shri Ram Nath Kovind, in the august presence of Honorable Shri S.C Samir, Governor of Odisha, Honorable Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and distinguished bureaucrats, academicians, industry stalwarts and citizens. The Institute has signed MOU with IIT Kharagpur for collaborating in various research activities. Recently, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the permanent campus was happened on 20^th August 21.

ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar has resourceful faculty members both from India and abroad along with industrial experts as visiting Professors. At present, 17 faculties are working in the institute comprising of 8 faculties from Chemical Engineering background and 9 from Basic Science (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) background. All faculties hold Ph. D. degree from reputed national and international institutions and many of them have international postdoctoral research experiences. The major emphasis of the faculties is on quality teaching, industrial collaboration for research and technology development. 

ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar is presently operating from its temporary campus at IIT Kharagpur Extension Center, Gajpati Nagar.  All classes and undergraduate labs are being held at this temporary campus. Additionally, the sophisticated instruments are installed at two locations i.e. at temporary campus  and at CET Bhubaneswar campus. At present the temporary campus provides the computer center, central library, common reading room, Wi-Fi enabled classrooms, class rooms having audio-visual aid, well- equipped laboratories, sports facilities and video conferencing facility.

ICT-IOC, at present operating from its temporary campus at IIT Kharagpur Extension Centre, Gajpati Nagar. Thus, accommodation with mess and other facilities are arranged for both girls and boys in the hostels provided by the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) Bhubaneswar, in its permanent campus at Jagmara. The hostels have 24x7 internet facility, gymnasium, common room, and other recreational facilities. Medical facility is provided round the clock with emergency care to the students both in the campus and in the hostels. Institute had a tie-up with leading hospitals to get tertiary health care for students at Bhubaneswar city. Institute bus is available for daily movement from hostels to academic campus.

The ICT-IOCB supports 3-5 students under merit-cum-means scholarships. Th e range is Rs. 3000/- to Rs. 75,000/ per annum per person through several endowments, private trust and annual commitments by alumni. All economically deprived students are given assistance in the form of tuition fees, hostel fees, mess bills and travel assistance to present papers in national conferences.

Student Welfare funds

The Institute has created a Student Welfare Fund with the objective of making financial assistance available for meeting the welfare needs of students in need, such as emergent medical assistance, purchase of books and study material and any other comparable needs of students. An amount of Rs. 500 per semester is collected from all students towards the Student Welfare Fund and an equal amount is contributed by the Institute. The Fund is managed and monitored by a Committee which includes nominees from among the student community.

Student distress fund (Alumina Supported)

UDCT Alumni Association (UAA) is to promote infrastructure growth at ICT including development of laboratories and also to support student growth both academic and co-curricular. UAA support student activities organized by Technological Association and needy distress students.

Educational Loans Facilities by campus national bank

UAA support needy students in the form of loans, which students can pay back in installments after graduation

Medical Insurance Coverage

First-Aid service is available in the Institute and Hostel Office. For emergency, ambulance service is available to take patients to SUM Hospital which is concessional medical treatment. Only medicine cost is availed by the patient.

Travel support (Alumni Supported)

UAA support travel to students and Faculties who are interested to attend conferences, workshops etc.

Emergency Funds - Faculties, staff and students helped timely to various need students in accordance to fulfil the need of hour, for example: During the pandemic the economically weak students get funds from the ICT-IOCB for purchasing laptops, The funds were collected and provided for medical emergencies for highly needy students.

Industrial exposure is a mandatory requirement for the I. M. Tech. Program, hence students are send to various industries in alternate trimesters.

In accordance with alternative industrial training and academic curriculum based program, ICT-IOC has strong industrial connections.
